This highly trained squad uses the Manurhin MR73, arguably the best revolver in the world. This revolver is incredibly accurate and durable. The standard set by the GIGN is that these handguns have to withstand 150 rounds of 357 Magnum a day or at least 40,000 rounds of 158gr 357 Magnum a year.

How good is the MR73?
The Manurhin MR73 is touted as one of the most accurate revolvers. It can reliably hit a man-sized target at 100 yards. During their testing, they were able to land a round at 200 yards. The only real issue that James found with the Manurhin MR73 was the price.
Does GIGN use P90?
The standard SMGs for GIGN are the HK MP5A5, MP5SD3, MP5SD6, and MP5K-PDW. The FN P90 is used for its ability to punch through body armor. The Heckler & Koch UMP, which is the standard weapon for the Gendarmerie, is available for the unit as well. The primary assault rifles used by GIGN are the SIG 550, 551, and 552.
